About School of Rural Management (SRM)

School of Rural Management (SRM), Ratlam, is promoted by two powerful entities of the rural development sector in India, viz. Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) and Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT).

KRIBHCO is a premier fertilizer producing company and is also Asiaís largest farmersí cooperative. Just to quote, it has earned a pretax profit of INR 182.51 Crore during the financial year of 2013-14 with corresponding production of 22.10 Lakh MT urea.

Working under the aegis of KRIBHCO since 1992, GVTís rural developmental interventions are spread over thirteen states across India: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhatisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. GVT has now emerged as a very vibrant CSR face of KRIBHCO. During the financial year 2013-14, it managed rural development projects to the value of INR 39.16 Crore and is expected to cross the INR 40 Crore mark in the financial year 2014-15.

Considering its own solid contribution in the field of rural livelihoods for years and drawing strength from KRIBHCOís organizational support, it decided to promote an entity that not only encapsulates their long standing experience in rural development management into a realistic training model but also responds to the challenge of building capacities of rural communities and other stakeholders by following an inclusive development paradigm. Thus, came into being in 2006, National Livelihood Resources Institute (NLRI). The state government of Madhya Pradesh allocated a 25 acre plot to establish the institute and is committed to collaborate with NLRI on various rural livelihood enhancement initiatives.

Furthering its mandate, NLRI has taken two major initiatives recently; The School of Rural Management, SRM (2014) and Gramodaya NLRI Community College, GNCC (2013).

The SRMís post graduate diploma programme in rural planning and management (PGDRPM), with its unique focus on rural enterprise and entrepreneurship management was approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in April 2014.
