Programme Objectives
To develop a cadre of professionals with competencies to conquer complexities of rural development management and turn them into future managers handling development initiatives through government, private and voluntary sectors. To imbibe entrepreneurial spirit, especially among the rural youth, equipping them with relevant skills and attitude for them to manage and or launch rural enterprises and ventures. The ultimate objective is to fill this entrepreneurial space in rural areas to innovate and improve delivery of services to rural areas with emphasis on rural poor.

Programme Design
The programme is delivered over a period of 2 years and is spread over four semesters as detailed below:
As seen in the table, the courses cover a wide range of topics and areas of inquiry. There are a number of general management courses while a substantial number focus on specific and relevant topics pertaining to rural management, livelihoods, natural resource management, social sciences and even agri-business management. The range of electives will allow students to gain specialization in areas of their preference.
The programme curriculum offers 5 electives of 1.5 credits each (Community Driven Development, Delivery of Rural Services, GIS for Rural development, ICT for Development and Social Entrepreneurship) and 5 electives of 3.0 credits each (Sustainable Livelihoods, Rural enterprise Management, Cooperative Management, Agri-Value Chain Management and Micro Finance)

In the Management Training Segment (MTS), I and II, students will have an opportunity to work on live projects within GVT and other organizations representing Government to Corporate to voluntary sectors. These live experiences will give students new insights as to how development initiatives of various agencies work in the real world. Besides providing unique learning experiences this opportunity will also allow students to build their own knowledge perspective and entrepreneurial abilities and career plans.
